1898-S Morgan Silver Dollar



The 1898-S Morgan Silver Dollar is much like the 1898 and 1898-O Morgan Dollars. The 1898-S Morgan Dollar has a mintage of 4,102,000,  a mintage very similar to that of the 1898 and 1898-O dollars. The coin is also struck above the average strike and has appealing luster. The 1898-S Silver Dollar is found often very easily except coins in the higher grades like MS-65+, which can be somewhat harder to find, but not rare by any means. The value of the 1898-S is higher than that of the 1898 and 1898-O. The 1898-S Morgan in MS-60 condition is worth around the $200-$250 range and in MS-67, the dollar is about $38,000.

There were no special variety or error coins produced this year. The 1898-S Morgan Dollar in MS-67 condition has sold for as much as $35,000.
