The 1897-O Morgan Silver Dollar was minted with 4,004,000 coins. The 1897-O dollars are generally poor with bad strikes and luster that is below average. Although the 1897-O is not a key date, it is rare in higher grades such as MS-64+. Nicer coins are out there, you just have to search a little bit harder to find them. The 1897-O Morgan Silver Dollar has no special variety of VAMs. The value of the 1897-O Silver Dollar is worth a few hundred dollars in AU condition, then it goes up to almost $800 in MS-60. It goes up to about $50,000 in MS-65 and its highest value can be around $150,000.

The 1897 Morgan Silver Dollar was the twentieth coin in the Morgan Dollar series. It was minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and New Orleans. The mintages for this year are:
Philadelphia-2,822,731
New Orleans-4,004,000
San Francisco-5,825,000
There were no special variety or error coins produced this year. The 1897-O Morgan Dollar in MS-67 condition has sold for as much as $150,000.
