One of the rarest Morgan dollars from the San Francisco mint, the 1901-S Morgan Silver Dollar can be difficult to come by. The 1901-S has a mintage of 2,284,000 dollars, which is fairly low. The luster of these coins is usually decent, but unfortunately, the strike tends to be weak. Coins in MS-65 condition start to get expensive. The 1901-S Morgan Dollar is worth around $500 as an MS-60 condition coin, an MS-65 is close to $3,500, MS-66 is about $11,000 or so, and the MS-67 has a value near the $40,000 mark.

The 1901-O Morgan Dollar was minted as a bad coin with many of the 13,320,000 coins minted having a poor strike. Before a large amount of these coins were released in the early 1960s, the 1901-O Morgan in uncirculated condition was a very rare coin. Today, however, it's n0t of too much rarity, it's just about how good of quality the Mint state coins are. Most of time, the luster of the 1901-O is pretty decent. The value of this coin is average, about $30 in MS-60, over $800 in MS-66, and up to $22,000 in MS-67.
