The 1899-O Morgan Silver Dollar is an abundant coin in Uncirculated state. It was minted as 12,290,000 coins with many coins being released in 1962. The 1899 Morgan Silver Dollar has a mintage made for circulation of 330,000 coins while there were 846 proof dollars made. The 1899 Morgan is found much more often in Uncirculated condition than it is as a circulated coin. The 1889 is struck pretty well most of the time and the luster is often attractive also. The 1899 Proof dollars are also not too bad. Unfortunately, the price of the 1899 Dollar is not all that high. In MS-60, the 1899 Morgan Dollar is worth just under $300 and then an MS-67 is worth a few hundred dollars under $10,000. The 1899 Morgan Proof is about $1,400 in PF-60 and then goes up to around $18,000 in PF-67.

The 1889 Morgan Dollar had a high mintage of 21,726,000 regular strike coins and only 811 proof coins. The coins have terrible strikes and luster and finding a fairly decent coin can be a challenge. The 1889 Morgan Silver Proof Dollar is a little bit better in quality than the regular strike, but not much. The price of these coins in high grades is worth as MS-60 coins go for around the $30 range, but the MS-68 and MS-69 1889 Morgans can be valued at $25,000+. The 1889 Proof Morgan ranges in price from around $1,000 to $30,000+ depending on how good the quality is. The special VAMs are VAM 19-A, VAM 19-B, and VAM-22, all which deal with a bar wing die break.
