1893-S Morgan Silver Dollar

One of the rarest Morgan Dollars of the whole series is the 1893-S Morgan Silver Dollar. It has a mintage of only about 100,000 coins with most of them found in very fine condition. It is the ideal coin for collecting, with great strike, luster, and a superb value. Unfortunately, the value of this coin rises way past the average coin collector’s budget to get an AU or a Mint State coin. When trying to find this coin, a difficult task, be on the lookout for fake coins because with rare coins, people will try to scam you. The 1893-S Morgan Dollar is expensive in all grades, and dollars in EF to AU condition range from about $10,000 to around $50,000.Coins in uncirculated condition start at around $100,000 and then range to about $1,000,000 in MS-67.

1893-O Morgan Silver Dollar

The 1893-O Morgan Silver Dollar is another valuable and rare coin to the Morgan Dollar set. The coin has a mintage of only 300,000 coins, which is the lowest of any Morgan Dollar produced at the New Orleans Mint. The strike is usually not that good and many coins have marks and nicks from being in the bags. Finding a nice 1893-O Morgan in Mint State condition is pretty rare and finding coins in the higher of uncirculated grades can be near impossible. The 1893-O Dollar is worth around $1,000 in AU grades, around $2,000 to $3,000 range in low MS grades, and can be found to be near a whopping $400,000 in MS-66, but unfortunately there are only a few in that high of quality.

The last Morgan Dollar minted in Carson City, the 1893-CC Morgan Silver Dollar, is one of both value and importance to collectors. The 1893-CC Morgan had a mintage of 677,000 coins with many uncirculated coins being known for having bagmarks and finding an MS-63 or higher grade coin is an accomplishment. 1892-S Morgan Silver Dollar

The 1892-S Morgan Silver Dollar is considered a key date Morgan Dollar because of its low mintage of 1,200,000 coins and no coins of this year being released from 1962 to 1964. 1891-O Morgan Silver Dollar

The 1891-O Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most inexpensive coins in the Morgan Dollar series. It has a mintage of 7,954,529. The 1891-O Morgan starts at about $100 as MS-60 and then is only worth around $7,000 to $8,000 in MS-65. The lack of value is due to the poor strike and quality of the coin. Some decent 1891-O Dollars can be discovered, but it will take some looking. VAM-1A features an incredibly strong clashed E on the reverse of the Morgan Dollar. This variety is often discovered as an Almost Uncirculated coin, making it that much more valuable if one is found in uncirculated condition, which is a very rare find.

1891-S Morgan Silver Dollar

The 1891-S Morgan Silver Dollar is a Morgan Dollar ideal for collecting. The coin does not get to be too expensive, around $60 in MS-60 and then about $15,000 in MS-67. The condition of the coins, however, is great because they are known for being lustrous and struck very well. The mintage of the 1891-S Morgan is 5,296,000, which is just enough to keep the price down, but not too high to where the value is decreased dramatically. VAM-3 is one to look out for in this date. The stars to the left of the date are doubled, the date is slightly to the left, and the eyelid is doubled. VAM-3 goes for over $200 in MS-62/MS-63 condition.
